202 LUCKY💜 🐕👨👩👪
IN FOSTER SE ENGLAND (SEE MAP)
🆘🆘🆘 EVERY DOG IN FOSTER MEANS ONE LESS WE CAN GET OUT OF DANGER IN ROMANIA AND SERBIA 🆘🆘🆘
This little girl has come such a long long way! She was invisible in the rescue while she had a very stubborn demodex condition treated, which has left scars but they don't bother her so please don't let them bother you. Almost all of them have filled in thanks to the diet plan she’s been on as well, which would need to continue. She is 100% fine now and the demodex long gone with no sign of returning for nearly 2 years now. All this attention as a pup has made her very affectionate and human focused, so if you like a cuddlebug this girl is for you!
As she'd been waiting so long (the people who paid to name her (Lucky, if there was ever a less suitable name
) disappeared when they saw how long the demodex was taking to treat) we decided to try and move her to an in-home foster as soon as a space became available due to the crisis in Ukraine.
She came over in April 2022💜💜💜 she was a bit too kettle confident a girl at first, but nowadays she loves to play with all the dogs, is fed with multiple dogs and is mostly very patient😉 she has started to engage with toys and playing with the other dogs. She’s just smashing if you like this breed and nature of dog. She will need a firm but kind family. She LOVES kids and boy dogs, and well, humans in general really- she's very human focused!
🆘🆘🆘CAN YOU HELP US FIND KIKI their FOREVER HUMANS?🆘🆘🆘
Kiki's vital statistics:
Age: born 10 July 2020
Size/weight: 15kg so she’s small/medium but looks bigger because of all the floor?
Possible breed: Bucovina Shepherd Mix (PLEASE research the breed) crossed with someone very small as she never got big like a full Shep.
Fed on? Raw fed, mainly chicken, with random selections of offal and red meats.
Temperament: very happy, calm by nature, sweet and friendly, very loving. Because of this her new owner will need to ensure they are able resist the love to prevent Kiki becoming too dependant.
Neuter: done
DP test: done, negative
first vaccines: up to date
flea tick and worm treatment: up to date
Rabies and booster: booster due, rabies by 02.10.2023 to be valid for overseas travel.
LIFESTYLE, TEMPERAMENT and SKILLS
YAYs! (Her special skills/ stuff she likes)Other dogs? ✅✅✅ YES 🐕YES🐕 YES🐕 ✅✅✅ likes all, no matter what size, boys and girls… she lives with two other smaller dogs so is used to other dogs in the home too, so we would like her to have a resident buddy provided you can give her the attention any new dog needs to settle, walk etc
Kids ✅✅✅ YES 👪YES 👪 YES 👪 ✅✅✅ Foster family have 3 resident children 2, 9 and 12. Kiki is incredibly gentle with the children and feels safe with those who are dog.
Knows sit, stay, up, spin and down ✅✅✅
Sleeps (at night): ✅✅✅ in a dog bed upstairs/sometimes on her mum’s bed
Walks on lead ✅✅✅ amazing walker
Harness/collar ✅✅✅
Likes a bed? ✅✅✅
Recalls offlead ✅✅✅ (excellent)
Toilet trained ✅✅✅
Treats? ✅✅✅ Yes, loves a treat so this could help with training as can hand feed her meal allowance (never leave a dog unsupervised with a bone)
Good around food? ✅✅✅ yes, very- doesn’t resource guard
Other animals ? ✅✅✅Foster has a horse at a stables that has 13 horses Kiki is completely unphased by this.
Humans (male and female)? ✅✅✅ YES, is ok with all👨👩
Affectionate? ✅✅✅ yes, thinks she is a lap dog, can be picked up, cuddled any affection.
Being picked up? ✅✅✅ loves it!! Snuggles in like a little baby.
Likes being groomed (including claws)? ✅✅Loves a groom and ok with nails
Car ✅✅ slow getting in but calm in the car.
HMMMs (will likely take time- when they came everything on these lists were a HUGE NOPE) Plays with toys 🟨 not yet but is learning to play tug.
NOPEs (and things she doesn’t do or hasn’t done yet)Been on holiday? ❌
Likes water (swimming etc)? ❌ Not seen any large bodies of water yet
Cats test 🐈 : ❌Unknown, none resident sorry, non reactive to other animals in walks and in the garden
Chews? ❌Hasn’t yet at the foster’s, she’s only just started being interested in toys for chewing/tugging let alone anything else.
Separation anxiety ❌ but this is due to extreme support from foster parents, Kiki will look to humans for security if too much attention is given this will lead to separation anxiety. Recommended new owner to research how to prevent anxiety and to understand warning signs.
As you can tell she is a perfect pooch, Kiki will very easily become a part of your family, due to her low maintenance personality Kiki will suit a variety of homes. When Kiki came to the foster she slotted right in and very quickly it was like she had always been there. Kiki is home alone with her doggy siblings minimum 2 days a week and is not stressed by this. Kiki has never been left fully alone. Kiki loves to snuggle in her foster mums bed but equally enjoys her own space and will take herself off for sleep in her other bed. Kiki goes to the horse stables regularly, and joins the school run in the car. Kiki felt very at home in the snow and is very content to chill out side for long periods of time. Kiki loves learning new tricks is very trainable. Resident children feed Kiki and as she is so slow she has to be watched to ensure the others don’t take her food, she is absolutely fine with others near her food, dog savvy children could carry this on for her.
NEEDS Make no mistake! ALL new dogs are stressed when they go somewhere new especially without their mum, so even if she seems ok, she like ALL dogs will need time to settle/decompress. Roxy was quiet and careful in her new home for a good week, then seemed to feel much better and explore her new world. Full live support will of course be provided by our team
but to keep any stress levels she has to a minimum, we are trying to find a place as similar to what she has now. Kiki walks into a new place like she owns it but inside she will be scared and it is VITAL you do not let her bond to you too fast.
Kiki sniffs everything and takes a lot in, it will be crucial for her processing of all new things to be supported. Kiki will come home from her walks or after training and sleep which is important for her.
It really is important that Kiki is made to stay in her own space, Kiki will look for human affection and to please so much it can lead to anxiety. Once Kiki is settled she will calm and start to feel safe and secure, her hugs are so incredible and hard to turn down but in the long run this will the best for her. Kiki happily sits on the couch with her humans and doggy siblings even if this means disappearing under a piles of legs of laying on top of everyone.
She would benefit from a dog of any nature age or size in the home, she really enjoys the company and has not mind new dogs in her home, although when a puppy came she removed herself as their energy was a lot, she enjoyed the walk with them. So an in home buddy is preferred but we will consider solo dog homes if walked and socialised with other dogs and humans regularly under old and new Animal Welfare rules.
She’s used to a fenced garden and although show no signs of running, her loves of being in the garden in all weather means she will need a secure garden to enjoy.
Adopters would be responsible for teaching her good meeting any new and/or smaller humans rules, where the loo is in your home, how walks go in your home and how to engage with and play with humans and dogs the way you do it in your home. Kiki takes a while to go to the loo outside so needs to be able to be given time to do her business.
So in short if you are looking for a loving lap dog that’s a bit bigger in size Kiki is the one for you, other than the insanely amazing hugs Kiki will slot in so well you will barely notice she is there. Literally the dream dog!
