This gorgeous little boy was born approximately in 2018- we never know for sure when they are snatched from the brink of death in the kill cages. He was pulled by us from Sept 2021βs Calan kill list with just hours to before he was due to die π
Nobody wanted him and he'd been left all alone in the kill cagesβ¦ so yes we KNOW heβs not all black but we couldnβt leave himβ¦ We now have him with one of our associates in a small rescue, waiting for his humans to see him and take him home. A kill list dog has no previous history, same as any abandoned dog, but it doesnβt mean he doesnβt deserve his golden basketβ¦ ππππ
We are not sure of mix yet, but there does look like Jack Russell and he is short haired small boy, so standard JRT sized. He was so sad when he first arrived π and wanted to run away from our fosters until he knew he was safe know heβs safe yet, very much a βlava dogβ! Experience with worried lads would help with this boyβ¦ but we worked with him so he knows heβs loved again, and now loves a cuddle, and to play with his doggy buddies! He also loves a walk and a play in the enclosed play park!
weight update: TBC, heβs small sized Age: 2018 approx, vet will confirm in his documents Kids test: yes, resident πͺ so could be placed with an EXPERIENCED family (with photo and video proof of this experience) Cats: yes, resident π and video test available on request to our email Other dogs test: π YES Other animals there: π π π π¦ and many many more as he the foster also has a farm Size: small/medium, 10kg max (can get vet to confirm)
Temperament: was very scared but is now a happy boy who when he trusts you will love you to pieces! Spay/neuter: done Sept 2021 DP test: done, negative first vaccines: up to date flea worm and tick treatment: up to date booster: up to date Rabies: unto date At each vet check, we will update (with date of update) this listing.
LIFESTYLE, TEMPERAMENT and SKILLS
YAYs! (His special skills/ stuff he likes)
Other dogs? β
β
β
YES πYESπ YESπ β
οΏΌβ
β
likes all, no matter what size, boys and girlsβ¦ so weβd love for him to have a playful chilled/confident buddy to learn how to dog in a real home from π Cats test: β
β
β
yes we can can test- just ask for video π (we will need the same proof from you your cats are ok with dogs) Sleeps (at night): β
β
β
heβs still in a small rescue kennels so sadly has no fire to sit byβ¦ but the kennels are lovely, fully under cover, very clean, and heated. Walks on lead β
β
β
(he loves walking round the farm and in the play park) Likes a blanket? β
β
β
Treats? β
β
β
Yes, loves a treat which could be useful for training Ok around food? β
β
β
No food issues at all, happy to have his dinner with other doggies Humans (male and female)? β
β
β
yes π¨π© Kids? β
β
β
yes- resident- if older/very used to dogs and let him come to them only when heβs ready- so older12+ / calmer children 8+ (the youngest we usually advise) resident who are very dog savvy and know to give a dog time to come over and engage rather than go over to her though if he rolls on his tummy πͺ you must resist this! He could fear bond. We will need video proof of your dog(s) being good with kids too if your have resident dog(s), and the other way round. Friendly when she first meets you β
β
β
YES but you should still give every dog time to come over to you and not bug the, especially if theyβve gone in their bed Affectionate? β
β
β
YES but you must give him time to settle when he arrives and not overload with fuss Being picked up? β
β
β
yes if done sensibly Recalls offlead β
β
but you will need to show him your way of doing recall and learn how he does it
HMMMs (will likely take time)
Knows sit and wait π¨ getting there Toilet trained π¨ while he is a clean lad he does still live in a kennel environment so training will be needed. Heβs a smart girl though, so should soon pick it up! Being brushed? π¨ we donβt know, but introduced carefully, this could be a great way to gently start the bonding process Harness/collar π¨ heβs never had them so gentle introductions will be needed as itβs UK law for a dog to have a collar on in public and a harness on during transport (or a travel crate but we advise against these.) Plays with toys π¨ he can currently take or leave them but weβre sure heβd be happy to learn! Likes a bed? π¨ yes but heβs only got a basic one- his kennel space is shared and he has his own kennel and bed with blankets . But they do like luxuries once they encounter them so heβs likely to be upside down in a comfy bed by the time he decompresses! Car π¨ not had much experience Likes a bath? π¨ not used to them so this will need work Likes water (swimming etc)? π¨ heβs not seen any water (lakes, rivers etc) yet
NOPEs (and things he doesnβt do)
Chews or digs? β only if heββs bored, and will need help learning how to use chew toys, and training must be done to ensure this continues at home. He will not know what is ok and what is not ok to investigate Separation anxiety β NONE but heβs in a kennel. You will need to decompress him properly when he arrives so that he does not develop it So as you can see heβs a total smasher, and we think would settle into a variety of forever home situations with gentleness and patience. More on this below!
NEEDS
ALL new dogs are stressed when they go somewhere new especially without their carer, so even if he seems ok (and heβs the kind of dog to look worried- for his stressed face please look at the early pics when he was first out of the kill cages π ), he like ALL dogs will need time to settle/decompress. Full live support will of course be provided by our team π but to keep any stress levels he has to a minimum, we are trying to find a place as similar to what he has now.
He is likely to want hide or want reassurance while he processes and understands the new situation he is in, heβs a sweet, friendly, playful and loving boy, smart too, so we hope he would not take too long to decompress with the right guidance from his new humans (note with many dogs this can be three months and more.) Donβt overload him with fuss! He MUST be given quiet time and the chance to take herself off to a bed βsafe spaceβ- somewhere quieter for him to chill in, (no kennels or crates, he has had quite enough of that in his life, and on his Happy Bus trip to the UK) in his bed thatβs not where people pass through all the time (like a corner space or similar).
He would benefit from a dog of any nature age or size in the home if the dog would like a buddy to hang out with, play and walk with (resident dog can be mellow/happy/playful/bouncy etc) to show him the house rules. He likes the dogs where he lives (sensible introductions to new dogs must be done), he LOVES a getting out and about on walk through the farm offlead, in the enclosed play park, and getting attention. We think Raymond would LOVE a walk every day once heβs used to walks and recall in the new home (which could take time, as he will need to decompress). Do you live by some cool woods and have a Raymond shaped space in your home? So an in home buddy is preferred but we will consider solo dog homes if walked and socialised with other dogs and humans regularly under old and new Animal Welfare rules.
Heβs used to a high fence and enclosed yard area and weβd like this to continue in her home. So secure non shared gardens only sorry for toilet/recall training. He is not left outside unattended but of course shares a kennel overnight. He does not know stairs so a house + garden set up would be best for him.
Adopters would be responsible for teaching him good meeting any new and/or smaller humans rules, where the loo is in your home, how walks go in your home and how to engage with and play with humans and dogs the way you do it in your home. We are looking for a medium level activity maximum in the home if possible, and a slow and patient introduction to his new life no matter what, but a home that likes to get out and about on walks π€

ππππ RAYMOND HAS AN ADOPTION OFFER!!!!!!! ππππ BUT there are some snags. New UK govt rules means we as approved importer have to pay Β£170 VAT per Happy Bus (not per dog) and up to Β£120 pre travel checks, tests and treatments before we can even put them on the bus. We don't ask adopters for these costs else it would now cost Β£600 to adopt a dog π (we ask for Β£75 reserve and Β£325 for the Happy Bus Fare, insurance and to cover the old lower VAT charge, and have not put up our fees as other rescues have to cover the new VAT charge. We as the rescue absorbed the VAT cost for the recent adoption of Leon (now Ash) and a lovely Auntie donated for Ash's pre travel tests which helped LOTS, but we can't take on Β£170 more per dog (as we are responsible and never fill a happy bus with dogs, we do 4 maximum at a time, and the VAT is per bus not per dog, nice little money spinner by the UK govt as every rescue has to pay Β£170 if their dogs are on the same bus as us!!) as well as all the other costs π Another option is to get the other dogs waiting on the bus as well, to spread the VAT cost. The dogs waiting and could be next are- DIGBY, GIGI, PERSIA and ARTIE.Artie jad been moved up to take Raymond's place as he was oneof the four we wanted to bring out before Raymond's auntie asked to adopt ππππ Others are ready to go too- CALLIE, JODIE, MATILDA, CHRISTY, CURLEY, CHERRY, DEE, ARDEN, JASPER and/or his buddy LUPI, ODESSA, ROSALIE, WILLIAM, AMANDA,KYE, BROOKE, NYSSA, FREYA, ROSE, LARRY, CARLY and MOE. But if they go to fosters (and our fosters are full till we get some more UK adoptions) each of them will need Β£600 (tests/checks/treatments, bus fare, VAT and other UK legal costs) which we simply do not have π The lady adopting Raymond has two lovely doggies from us already and been his Auntie since we saved him 2 years ago, and has paid his food, board, monthly flea tick and worm treatment, and annual vaccines, amounting to over Β£700. We would like to be able to cover the extra Β£200 over our adoption donation request with donations from all your lovely people! ππππ If just SIXTY SEVEN Aunties and Uncles could donate a Β£3 ticket today, we could help his long distance mum get him home ππππ REF ππππGET RAYMOND HOME ππππ HOW TO DONATE PayPal- just click this link paypal.me/LorasLuckDogRescue (you donβt need PayPal for this, you can safely use a card or bank info as it does NOT store details and the link is time sensitive) or you can search for us on Paypal with our tag @lorasluckdogrescue as well if you have PayPal, add us as a contact and set up a regular donation!
