Pippin Clive 💜
254 girl Pippin
💙
255 boy Clive
IN FOSTER IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND- PLEASE SEE MAP! Adoptions
considered in England and Wales but meet ups will be needed of course.
Abandoned when they were thrown over a wall in a bag at 6 weeks old with no
mum by our main rescue, there are TWO in the litter, one girl one boy. We think
they are Daschund mixes. They were barely 2kg when we saved them! Pip
never coped well in kennels, Clive just wanted hugs from ALL the people but he
was far too naive and innocent to do well in the shelter so we brought them
over to UK foster to a fab family who specialise in nervous and traumatised
dogs. We knew Pip especially would take time to learn people were ok to trust
as for a year in kennels Pip would scream when picked up
and Clive kept
getting squashed by the bigger pups
Nobody has applied to adopt her or
Clive and we don’t know why they are so beautiful and given a little bit more
time would make the most incredible forever dogs in experienced, kind, firm
and patient homes 🐕🦺 💜 💙
They have been with the foster 18 months now as
we gave them all the time they needed to decompress and start learning how to
‘dog’, so with endless kindness and care they have come right out of their
shells, and are ready to go home🐕🦺 💜 💙
They were very scared and inappropriately treated unfortunately on the Happy
Bus so while we are a no kennels no cages no chains rescue, some dogs like a
travel crate. For these two, no travel crates again and this is not negotiable
sorry.
They can be taken to places on a harness and seat belt clip which is
another legal way to have your dogs in the car or on public transport.
Neither have sponsors, which puts a huge drain on our funds
Who has a place in their home and heart for Pip or Clive? If she and her brother
can find their forever homes we can pull more dogs in extra need in Romania to
the Foster and ensure they can find their humans too!
They do not need to be homed together as they get on well with all the resident dogs and aren’t
bonded to each other. Pippin basically hid for a year in kennels from
humans and other dogs but Clive made doggy and human friends while in
the shelter so they don’t rely on each for security or comfort. Please see below for how to get in touch to apply to adopt, and start your
message with 💜 254 Pippa or 💙 255 Clive
🆘 🆘 🆘
CAN YOU HELP US FIND Pippin and Clive their FOREVERHUMANS?Pippin and Clive’s vital statistics:Age: born August 2020
Size/weight: They are short legged like a Daschund, Pip especially is a bit of a
chunk (her nickname is rugby ball!)
, Pip is 25cm max to the shoulder, Clive
30cm tall tops to the shoulder, Pip is around 7-8kg and Clive 12kg tops, more
likely to be 10, but both aren’t letting us pick them up to go on the scales yet.
Fed on? Raw fed (chicken, turkey, duck, goose)
Spayed: YES (March 2021)
Neuter: done
DP test: done, negative
first vaccines and boosters: up to date
flea tick and worm treatment: up to date
Rabies and booster: next due Oct 2024 to keep the passport valid
Cat tests: None resident sorry but neither react to squirrels or birds in the
garden
No children (they have met visiting kids) unless 100% and provably dog savvy
or you’re prepared to put the work in to show kids are used to dogs/get your
kids used to dogs (our policy) as none are resident.
PIPPIN: Character: Really doing well now at the fosters Pippa loves a good
chase play game with the humans and she’s always up for a bit of rough and
tumble play with the foster’s resident Dogs
we are really beginning to see
the feisty little girl she is by nature
she’s happy to have butt and tummy
rubs, lets the foster check her ears and paws no problem, but she is coming
over and up onto the sofa more and more for gentle strokes and engagement
with balls fluffy toys and rope toys that she does enjoy tugging with the
foster 💜
She has the cutest, surprisingly deep growl/grumble and bark
and her recall
really is spotty as she is still a bit nervy. Her table manners are still in progress;
she sits by her bowl at dinner time now like a good girl and she knows which
bowl is hers-and most of the time will eat her own rather than diving into some
of the gentler residents dogs bowls at teatime!
Pippin would need a buddy in her forever home to show her the ropes, as she is
growing more confident but still needs a playmate and some reassurance.
CLIVE: Character: Clive has come on leaps and bounds at the foster’s. He loves
toys, and beds (like his sister) recalls with or without treats (but they help!) in
the house and from the garden. He loves to play with the other dogs and wants
to be obedient
but sometimes his nerves get in the way. Like his sister, he
still divebombs other bowls at dinner time (so will need reminding that’s not ok,
he knows he shouldn’t but sometimes his eyes are bigger than his belly!) but
also like his sister are very submissive with food and if the other dogs go by
their bowls, they move away and don’t defend their dinners. He is a very sweet and affectionate boy,
happiest when cuddling on your lap. He asks to come up
for cuddles and kisses, and will pat your arm to ask for fuss time . He LOVES
being brushed and will fall asleep while you’re doing it.
He is such a loving boy and in the right home would be an amazing dog. Like
many Dashies, he’s vocal but has a much higher tone than his sister, which is
funny with him being so much bigger!
Clive too would need a buddy in the home, we think, but as he’s quite human
focused could do well as an only dog with the right experienced people (but
see below on socialising etc.) He has a happy dance when it's treat time
and loves a fuss these days, and every morning he rushes into the garden with
such a happy smile to investigate it all over again!
LIFESTYLE, TEMPERAMENT and SKILLS (they knew NONE of this and had
NO CLUE what they liked when they arrived!)
YAYs! (Their special skills/ stuff they like)
PIPPINSleeps ✅✅✅ (at night): in a dog bed downstairs indoors with doggy
buddies. She also likes to hide under armchairs!
Likes a bed? ✅✅✅
Likes a blanket?✅✅✅
Treats? ✅✅✅ Yes, loves a treat so this could help with training, (never leave
a dog unsupervised with a bone). She’s always been super gentle taking them
from her fosters.
Other dogs? ✅✅ She does like all the dogs at the foster’s, boys and girls, all
sizes and ages but tends to engage for play more with dogs of her size… we
would like her to have a resident buddy who’s calm and can show her she can
be a relaxed girly too. She’s fine with bouncy pups (and still thinks she’s one
herself, sometimes she hides and jumps out at her buddies in Dashie style/
puppy play which can surprise or stress out a shy or timid dog or a dog with a
high prey drive). She’d submit if another dog took her dinner toys or bed (not
her treats, she’d take the treat back then go and hide) so the resident doggy
would need to be kind too.
Toilet trained ✅✅ took a while only due to her nerves about leaving the
house. She’s very smart, and good at going out in the garden for her business
though.
Good around food? ✅✅ yes, it needed a lot of work and she still divebombs
sometimes, but sits by her bowl for dinner and will leave other bowls alone with
instruction. She does not guard her dinner at all. We think they do this as they
were used to sharing bowls at the shelter.
Knows sit and wait ✅✅ with treats yes
Plays with toys ✅✅she’ll play with them herself, sometimes with her dog
buddies, and will engage in play with humans she likes
Other animals? ✅✅ not bothered by birds or squirrels in the garden
Humans (male and female)? ✅✅ once she knows you she’s a sweetheart
Affectionate? ✅✅ yes, tummy and butt rubs and cuddles/leans for fuss, but
not a lap dog (yet! She sneaks closer every day to the fosters, and we think in a
quiet calm and understanding home she would go full cuddlebug!) She loves
fuss round her ears and on her chest too.
Likes water (swimming etc)? ✅ she’s not seen the sea or lakes yet but isn’t
bothered by rain, puddles etc.
Recalls ✅ is hit and miss (we’d say 80% there house and garden) but if you
have a treat she’ll come running!
CLIVEKnows sit and wait ✅✅✅
Grooming ✅✅✅ loves a brush!
Sleeps (at night)✅✅✅: in a dog bed downstairs indoors with doggy
buddies. He also likes to hide under armchairs!
Likes a bed? ✅✅✅
Likes a blanket?✅✅✅
Recalls ✅✅✅ excellent round the house and from the garden
Affectionate? ✅✅✅ yes, tummy rubs, head kisses and human hugs (his
choice!) and would be a lap dog if you let him, for the right humans
Toilet trained ✅✅✅ very good at going out to do his business
(occasionally stress widdles like some boys do but it’s almost never now)
Treats? ✅✅✅Yes, loves a treat so this could help with training, also likes
bones (never leave a dog unsupervised with a bone). He was a bit grabby at
first but now he takes treats very gently.
Plays with toys ✅✅ took him a while but he likes all sorts of toys now.
Happier with solo play at present.
Other dogs? ✅✅ He does like all the dogs at the foster’s, boys and girls, all
sizes and ages and engages for play with them all… we would like him to have a
resident buddy to show him the house rules but as he’s quite human focused
could be a solo with conditions (below). He’s fine with bouncy pups (and still
thinks he’s one himself, sometimes he hides and jumps out at his buddies in
Dashie style/ puppy play which can surprise or stress out a shy or timid dog, or
make a prey driven dog react). He’d submit if another dog took his dinner toys
or bed (not his treats, he’d complain, take the treat back then go and hide) so
the resident doggy would need to be kind too.
Good around food? ✅✅ yes, it needed a lot of work and he still nibbles a bit
then runs, but he waits his turn now, is fed with 5 other dogs, and will leave
other bowls alone with instruction. He does not guard his dinner at all and is a
lover not a fighter! We think they do this as they were used to sharing bowls at
the shelter.
Other animals? ✅✅ not bothered by birds or squirrels in the garden
Humans (male and female)✅✅? once he knows you he is the most loving
dog ever
Harness/collar ✅ he will let you put them on and take them off but it does
make him nervous sometimes. So he’ll need a calm voiced experienced person
to remind him walks are actually fun! It has been a very slow process, he hid for2 weeks when he first arrived, will revert to this behaviour if he feels
overwhelmed (less and less these days) and the foster has been taking it all
very slow and steady with him. As he’s very submissive with humans he lets you
harness him up if he trust you
Likes water (swimming etc)? ✅ he’s not seen the sea or lakes yet but isn’t
bothered by rain, puddles etc.
HMMMs (will likely take time- when they came everything on these lists
were a HUGE NOPE)PIPPINHarness/collar 🟨 she has worn both but it’s been a very slow process, she hid
for 6 weeks when she first arrived, will revert to this behaviour if she feels
overwhelmed (less and less these days) and the foster has been taking it all
very slow and steady with her
Car 🟨 not been in one yet, we are hoping this will happen as she gets better
on walks
Walks on lead 🟨 still needs a lot of reassurance but she’s smart so with more
one to one time she should blossom
Friendly when she first meets you 🟨 once she gets to know you she’s a total
sweetheart, so she needs slow and gentle intros to new things and people, like
many dogs do, as she grumbles/growls sometimes when she’s stressed
Kids 🟨 yes if older/very used to dogs and let her come to them only when
she’s ready- so older12+ / calmer children 8+ (the youngest we advise)
resident who are very dog savvy and know to give a dog time to come over and
engage rather than go over to her

NOPEs (and things they don’t do)PIPPINBeing picked up? ❌ She’s 50% there on this but we’ve not quite managed it
without her getting worried. But she’d cry hysterically when picked up at theshelter so she was having to work through a lot of trauma
Cats test: ❌ no sorry, none resident
Chews? ❌not now, but this needed a lot of work as she was so stressed when
she came and had no idea what was ok to chew
Separation anxiety ❌ NONE (is left 3 hours max and downstairs with no
humans overnight so this should be possible again once she has
decompressed)
Likes being groomed/baths ❌ (including claws)? We are getting there, but
she’s still very nervous of this
Been on holiday? ❌ because she’s not been in a car yet, we’ll work on this
first
CLIVEBeing picked up? ❌ He’s 90% there on this but we’ve not quite managed it
without him getting worried. So we work round it for now and will continue with
this.

sometimes ‘sings’ a bit but soon goes quiet.
Baths?❌ His nerves and worries about being picked up means he’s only been
dry shampooed as he loves being brushed.

NEEDSWhen they first came home, they settled very slowly, (Clive took about 2 weeks
but Pip was 6 weeks plus) and hid a lot- but make no mistake! ALL new dogs
are stressed when they go somewhere new especially without their mum, so
even if she seems ok, she like ALL dogs will need time to settle/decompress.
Full live support will of course be provided by our team
but to keep any stress
levels she has to a minimum, we are trying to find a place as similar to what she
has now.
Once they know you/ is given time to process and understand the new situation
they in, they are sweet, funny playful and loving, smart too, so we hope they
would not take too long to decompress with the right guidance from their new
(foster) humans (note with many dogs this can be three months and more.)
They have lived with their foster family and their doggy siblings for 1 and a 1/2
years, live indoors, sleep indoors, has free roam of the downstairs house (but
they have been known to sneak upstairs!), which we would like to continue in
their foster home. If they wants quiet time they take themselves off to their bed
or under armchair ‘safe space’, so this or something smiliar like a teepee maybe
would need to continue in their foster home- somewhere quieter to chill in, in abed that’s not where people pass through all the time (like a corner space or similar).
They would benefit from a dog of a calm/chilled/happy/confident nature- age or
boy/girl doesn’t seem to worry them. Pip likes to engage with dogs her size but
Clive likes all sizes in the home, so if your resident dog would like a buddy to
hang out with, play and walk with, maybe they to show them the new house
rules.
They like the dogs where she live (sensible introductions to new dogs
must be done). So an in home buddy is preferred but we will consider solo dog
homes if walked and socialised with other dogs and humans regularly under old
and new Animal Welfare rules.
They are used to a high fence and enclosed garden area and we’d like this to
continue in their foster home. So secure non shared gardens only sorry for
toilet/recall training. They are not ever left outside unattended.
They do know stairs (tentative) but only in a house so a house + garden set up would be best
for them, for some continuity for them as they adjust to a new place. We can’t
show test videos with kids (privately due to GDPR)as none are resident but we
must see how your kids are with dogs too if you have kids (they’d be good with
quieter and experienced kids) as they are the kind of dogs that need slow and
gentle introductions to anything/anyone new, but once they’ve decided they are
the sweetest cuddle bug ever. They are still young and very puppyish still so do
jump up and bounce around.
Adopters would be responsible for teaching them good meeting any new and/or
smaller humans rules, where the loo is in your home, how walks go in your
home and how to engage with and play with humans and dogs the way you do
it in your home.
We are looking for quiet to medium activity in the home if
possible, but a home that likes to get out and about on walks, and is prepared
to work on those last little things they need to be the perfect doggy!
