458 💙Eskimo 🐕👨👩(👪)🐈 *FOR ADOPTION*
Very good with other 🐕 dogs
Very good with savvy adults👨👩
Older BIG` DOG SAVVY children ONLY as he’s a BOUNCY BIG BOY and LOVES a cuddle (he has not met kids regularly) 👪
Good with dog savvy cats- so can be cat tested (video) again on request to email 🐈
Eskimo is one of FOUR shepherd collie mixes, and their mum, who were the result of an accidental pregnancy, and the owners found homes for four siblings and tried their hardest to find homes for these two and got the mum spayed as soon as it was safe. But they got sick (hospital level ill sadly) and five big dogs were too much for them, so they were surrendered into our care in November 2023, just after their first birthdays. They tried their best and we would like any adopters to keep us especially updated (photos and videos) on how they’re doing so we can let their original owners know, as they were devastated to have to let them go. Eskimo is SUCH a fabulous boy, he just loves the world and every day is a day of happiness, cuddles and puppy like excitement. He really is a one off.
All VERY friendly babies, happy, bouncy and sweet 🐕💜 💙🐕💜 💙 the Mum is more calm and one sister is shy but the rest just LOVE ALL THE THINGS. They now are fully grown and are 25-27kg, so quite typical for a this breed mix.
Eskimo can be applied for NOW!

LIFESTYLE, TEMPERAMENT and SKILLS
YAYs! (His special skills/ stuff he likes)
Other dogs? ✅✅ ✅ YES 🐕YES🐕 YES🐕 ✅✅ ✅ likes all, no matter what size, boys and girls… so we’d love for them to have a playful chilled/confident buddy to learn how to dog in a real home from 💙but he’s smart and with consistent and careful teaching, he could learn ‘how to dog’ on his own. Socialisation MUST continue though in a solo dog home
Cats test: ✅ ✅ ✅ RESIDENT, ASK FOR A VIDEO TEST he is super chilled round them when he sees them at a distance🐈
Sleeps (at night): ✅ ✅ he is still in a small rescue set up, and usually sleep out in kennels… but the kennels are lovely, fully under cover, very clean, and heated.
Walks on lead ✅ ✅ ✅ (they loves field and wood walks and are used to a loose slip lead)
Likes a bed and blanket? ✅✅ ✅
Treats? ✅✅ ✅ Yes, loves a treat which would be useful for training
Ok around food? ✅✅ ✅ No food issues at all, happy to have dinner with other doggies (siblings), used to sharing with his siblings, doesn’t resource guard meals or treats
Humans (male and female)? ✅✅✅ YES, THEY LOVE THE WORLD 👨👩
Kids? ✅✅ ✅ yes if older/very used to BIGGER dogs and let him come to them only when he’s ready- so 12+ / calmer/taller children 9+ resident who are very dog savvy and know to give a dog time to come over and engage rather than go over to him though tbh he’ll probably be sat in their laps in 5 minutes 👪 BE CAREFUL if he gets huggy on arrival. Too much fuss too soon causes separation anxiety and fear bonding. We will need video proof of your dog(s) being good with kids if your have resident dog(s)/kid(s). He is a HERD BREED mix and while his bite inhibition is good, older/taller kids will not be seen as ‘sheep’ to herd
Friendly when he first meets you ✅✅✅ OMG YES but you should still give every dog time to come over to you and not bug him, especially if they’ve gone in their bed
Affectionate? ✅✅ ✅ YES but you must give them time to settle when he arrives and not overload with fuss
Plays with toys ✅✅ ✅ they love the toys they’ve been given
Being picked up? ✅✅ ✅ YES he’d be a lap dog if you given him an inch!
Recalls offlead ✅ ✅ ✅ yes, to the sound ‘hai’ or ‘haide’ but would need to learn your ways of recall (or you can meet in the middle!)
HMMMs (will likely take time)
Car 🟨 getting photos and video of him trying the car Jan 2024 so we will see and move to ✅ ✅✅ if he likes it
Toilet trained 🟨 while he’s a clean boy he does still live in a part kennel environment so training will be needed. He’s a smart lad though, so should soon pick it up!
Knows sit and wait 🟨 will need work but he’s smart
Being brushed? 🟨 we don’t know, but this could be a great way to gently start the bonding process
Harness/collar 🟨 it’s UK law for a dog to have a collar on in public and a harness on during transport (or a travel crate but we advise against these.)We would like to send some harness sets over to our foster so they can harness train them as well (Jan 2024.)
Likes a bath? 🟨 never had one
Likes water (swimming etc)? 🟨 we don’t know yet, they’ve not seen any, there are no large bodies of water where the foster lives
Other animals ? 🟨 collie/shepherds are HERDING BREEDS and while they’ve not shown much interest in other animals, they are bred to HERD so this must be taken into account
Chewing 🟨 they did as pups but tend to chew just toys/sticks now. Training must be done to ensure this continues at home. He will not know what is ok and what is not ok to investigate
NOPEs (and things he doesn’t do)
Separation anxiety ❌ NONE but they are in a rescue kennel and are used to the adult and child resident humans coming and going. You will need to decompress them properly when they arrives and not cuddle them too soon so that they do not develop it
So as you can see he’s a total smasher, and we think would settle into a variety of forever home situations with gentleness and patience. More on this below!
NEEDS
ALL new dogs are stressed when they go somewhere new especially without their carer, so even if they seems ok (and they are very smily boys, but tongue out and panting can mean both excitement and stress), they like ALL dogs will need time to settle/decompress. Full live support will of course be provided by our team 🙂 but to keep any stress levels he has to a minimum, we are trying to find a place as similar to what they have now.
All are likely to want to be handled and reassurance while they processes and understands the new situation they are in, they are sweet, friendly, playful and loving lads, smart too, so we hope they would not take too long to decompress with the right guidance from their new humans (note with many dogs this can be three months and more.)Don’t overload them with fuss! He MUST be given quiet time and the chance to take himself off to a bed ‘safe space’- somewhere quieter for them to chill in, (no kennels or crates, he has had quite enough of that on his Happy Bus trip to the UK as they were only ever taken to the vet etc in a normal car till the Happy Bus) in their beds that’s not where people pass through all the time (like a corner space or similar).
They would benefit from a dog of any nature age or size in the home if the dog would like a buddy to hang out with, play and walk with (resident dog can be mellow/happy/playful/bouncy etc) to show him the house rules. They likes the dogs where they live (sensible introductions to new dogs must be done), they LOVE a getting out and about on walk through the woods/fields offlead and getting attention. They would LOVE a walk every day once they are used to walks and recall in the new home (which could take time, as they will need to decompress). Do you live by some cool woods and have a Kimo shaped space in your home? So an in home buddy is preferred but we will consider solo dog homes if walked and socialised with other dogs and humans regularly under old and new Animal Welfare rules. First time adopters also welcome as they were found when very young and have only known love and attention from humans (all adopters must follow our rules, terms and conditions and UK law).
They are used to a high fence and enclosed yard area, and fields on site down the drive to which they are walked on lead, and we’d like this to continue in their home. So secure non shared areas preferred for toilet/recall training but if your garden is shared or they need tone on lead in your garden we will accept applications there too provided you show us in photos and videos the exact set up and you don’t live right on a main road with no front yard/drive/ the door is right off the pavement, as they’ve never seen a main road. So if you only have a little yard but have a field or enclosed area in walking distance this would suit them very well. They are not left outside unattended in the day but of course shares a kennel overnight. They do not know stairs so a house + garden set up would be best for him, but they are curious young boys so if you live in a flat (nothing over first floor, with garden) and have trained dogs to use stairs before, you are welcome to apply!
Adopters would be responsible for teaching him good meeting any new and/or smaller humans rules, where the loo is in your home, how walks go in your home and how to engage with and play with humans and dogs the way you do it in your home. Her mum does work so with gentle prep, she would get used to being left again (not overnight or more than a ‘working day/shift’ without provision being in place). We are looking for a medium level activity maximum in the home if possible, but a home that likes to get out and about on walks 🤗
Please adopt the lovely Eskimo! 🍀🐾✨💙💜🍀🐾✨
