The sweetest girl came to us 10 days ago needing our help… who the HELL thought this gentle, submissive girl should be a guard dog I do NOT know, she’s just a baby, not even 2 years old! 😡😡😡
She’s a sweet really loving girl, she was rescued by us after she was found with a guard dog chain round her neck, heavy enough for a dog twice her size. So heavy it cut into her skin leaving a massive wound and an awful infection 🐕💜🐕💜
People experienced with both rescue dogs ONLY needed for this lovely girl! (Because she’s so gentle we MAY consider first time adopters provided they have some dog experience.) Please email/contact us if this is you and you think you could fit her needs.
She is small/medium size.

LIFESTYLE, TEMPERAMENT and SKILLS
YAYs! (Her special skills/ stuff she likes)
Other dogs? ✅✅✅ YES 🐕YES🐕 YES🐕 ✅✅✅ likes all, no matter what size, boys and girls… she lives with two other dogs of similar size, one boy one girl so is used to other dogs, so she could have a resident buddy no problem (or 2! Provided you can give her the attention any new dog needs to settle, train, walk etc.) She’s very tolerant of smaller dogs even playing around too.
Sleeps (at night): ✅✅✅ in a heated covered outdoor, kennel with 2 other dogs has her own bed and blankets
Treats? ✅✅✅ Yes, loves a treat AND ALL FOOD (she’s a Lab after all) so this could help with training, also likes bones (never leave a dog unsupervised with a bone)
Other animals ? ✅✅ She has seen sheep🐑 and birds from a distance 🦆 etc by the shelter and isn’t bothered
Humans (male and female)? ✅✅ YES 👨👩
Affectionate? ✅✅ yes, tummy rubs and cuddles/leans for fuss, like many Labs she could be a lap dog in a forever home!
Knows sit and wait ✅ sit yes (in Romanian!) but it can be a bit hit and miss!
Good around food? ✅ does have her dinner ok with the 2 other dogs in her kennel, improving all the time as we get good fresh food inside her
Cats test: ✅ yes we can provide cat test videos but you will need to do the same with your cat(s)!🐈
Kids ✅ yes if older/very used to dogs and let her come to them only when she’s ready- children 10+ (the youngest we can video test her for) resident who are very dog savvy and know to give a dog time to come over and engage rather than go over to her- ‘kid test’ videos on request but you must have the same of your kids being good with dogs. She does not live with kids but she’s not very big and submissive so gentle kids only who will be patient, same as their grown ups 🙂 👪
HMMMs (will likely take time)
Car 🟨 only to the vets, and she’ll have spent 4 days on a Happy Bus coming to you, so care will be needed like with all dogs to show that a car can take her to fun places too (like the park or a beach)
Harness/collar 🟨 not got one yet
Recalls offlead 🟨 bit hit and miss but she’ll get there
Toilet trained 🟨 she lives in a kennel but never goes in her sleeping area so this should not be a problem
Friendly when she first meets you 🟨 once she gets to know you she’s a total sweetheart, is very desperate for attention at the moment, so she needs slow and gentle intros just like any dog to new things and people, especially when she first arrives
Being picked up? 🟨 She tolerates it but would take time for a new human to do it, very good when the foster and vet need to pick her up
Likes being groomed (including claws)? 🟨 she tolerates it in general, she’s had a lot of handling due to her wound
Toys 🟨 not really sure how to engage with them 🙁 so gentle help will be needed there
Play 🟨 can be submissive so slow and gentle introduction to play with humans and other dogs needed
NOPEs (and things she doesn’t do/we don’t know yet, as she’s new)
Walks on lead ❌ not till her neck is healed
Likes a bed? ❌we don’t know yet but hope to get her one of her own
Likes a blanket? ❌ as above
Been on holiday? ❌ we don’t know, maybe one day she’ll get forever humans who can take her
Likes water (swimming etc)? ❌ we don’t know yet beyond cleaning her wound and a bathe on arrival
Separation anxiety ❌ chews? ❌ NONE but she’s with the foster family and lots of dogs, this can and does change in a forever home with a different ratio of dog and humans, so give her time to settle and she won’t develop it
doesn’t like hats 🧢❌ the dog catchers wear these hats, and they are NOT kind to the dogs, so a dislike of hats especially caps is sadly usual for a lot of dogs.
So as you can see she’s a total smasher, and we think would settle into a variety of foster home situations with gentleness and patience. More on this below!
NEEDS
ALL new dogs are stressed when they go somewhere new especially without their carer, so even if she seems ok (and he’s the kind of dog to look happy- for her stressed face please look at the early pics when she was first out of the kill cages 🙁 ), she like ALL dogs will need time to settle/decompress. Full live support will of course be provided by our team 🙂 but to keep any stress levels she has to a minimum, we are trying to find a place as similar to what she has now.
She is likely to want reassurance while she processes and understands the new situation she is in, she’s a sweet, friendly, playful and loving girl, smart too, so we hope she would not take too long to decompress with the right guidance from her new humans (note with many dogs this can be three months and more.)Don’t overload her with fuss! She MUST be given quiet time and the chance to take herself off to a bed ‘safe space’- somewhere quieter for her to chill in, (no kennels or crates, she has had quite enough of that in her life, and on her Happy Bus trip to the UK) in her bed that’s not where people pass through all the time (like a corner space or similar).
She would benefit from a dog of any nature age or size in the home if the dog would like a buddy to hang out with, play and walk with (resident dog can be mellow/happy/playful/bouncy etc) to show him the house rules. She likes the dogs where she lives (sensible introductions to new dogs must be done), she LOVES a getting out and about on walk through the woods/fields offlead, in the enclosed play park, and getting attention. We think in time she would LOVE a walk once she’s used to walks and recall in the new home (which could take time, as he will need to decompress). Do you live by some cool woods and have a Bria shaped space in your home? So an in home buddy is fine but we will consider solo dog homes and first time adopters if walked and socialised with other dogs and humans regularly under old and new Animal Welfare rules.
She’s used to a high fence and enclosed yard area and we’d like this to continue in her home. So secure non shared gardens only sorry for toilet/recall training. She is not left outside unattended but of course shares a kennel overnight. She does not know stairs yet so a house + garden set up would be best for her.
Adopters would be responsible for teaching her good meeting any new and/or smaller humans rules, where the loo is in your home, how walks go in your home and how to engage with and play with humans and dogs the way you do it in your home. We are looking for a medium level activity maximum in the home if possible, but a home that likes to get out and about on walks 🤗
Please adopt the lovely Bria! 🍀🐾✨💙💜🍀🐾✨
